SECOND SEMESTER

Your Classes

  • APSC 174 - LINEAR ALGEBRA

In this class, you’ll learn how to prove if a line is straight, and how to prove if it’s not. You’ll dive into, quite possibly, one of the most abstract branches of math you’ve done yet. I remember getting so frustrated with the course concepts until I found the amazing resources I've linked for you (there are quite a few).

  • APSC 132 - CHEMISTRY OF NATURAL & ENGINEERING SYSTEMS

Similarly to Chemistry in first semester, a lot of the content in this class continues from your high school chem days. Instead of looking at how materials act under different conditions, expect to look more into systems as a whole.

  • APSC 172 - CALCULUS II

Calculus II is a pretty solid continuation from Calculus I, except this time you'll dive a lot deeper into more abstract concepts like the gradient, double/triple integrals, and polar coordinates.

  • APSC 112 - PHYSICS II

If you touched a GPA during o-week, there's still a chance you could pass this class! Listen to your FRECS, TAs and upper years very carefully for advice because this is definitely a very tough class full of circuits, electromagnetism, simple harmonic motion, waves, and more.

  • APSC 142 - INTRO TO PROGRAMMING FOR ENGINEERS

APSC 142 - INTRO TO COMPUTER PROGRAMMING FOR ENGINEERS

You thought coding was over??? Well lucky for you, you've got an entire other semester of coding assignments and projects. In this class, you'll go way more in depth into developing algorithms and working with complex functions.

  • APSC 182 - APPLIED ENGINEERING MECHANICS

While this class had my complaining more than a few times, it's a great introduction to static mechanics and civil engineering! If you don't already have your FBD mastered (you should), this class will get you into shape.

  • APSC 103 - CLIENT-BASED DESIGN PROJECT

Hands down one of my favourite classes of second semester. While it requires a lot of hard work and good teaming, unlike 101, you get to pick the project you work on. You'll also get to practice your awesome presentation skills for a client you'll be working with.
